The Ave Podcast – The 20th Anniversary of Love & Basketball

The Ave Podcast with Cal Cee. Episode 109: The 20th Anniversary of Love & Basketball

Today on The Ave Podcast, we take you back to 2000 where we celebrate one of the most popular movies for The Culture. Twenty years ago this week (originally released April 21, 2000), New Line Cinemas, Director Gina Prince-Bythewood, as well as 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks released Love & Basketball. A love story that follows the journey of Monica Wright & Quincy McCall, two next door neighbours who are pursuing their basketball careers before eventually falling for each other.

I’m joined by Christa Eniojukan (Ontario Tech U.’s Women’s Head Basketball Coach), Actor Dennis Barham, and 1st-time guest Dionne aka The Wife as we break down Sanaa Lathan’s skills as a basketball player, our favorite moments, if Monica should have broken curfew, if professing your love for someone is the right thing to do or not two weeks before their wedding, plus a lot more.
