Today on The Ave Podcast, we are launching a special podcast series, introducing the “Official R&B Fantasy Draft”. The Draft is based on a Snake-style format of the greatest R&B singers over the last 42 years, whether it be a soloist or from a group (careers must have started in 1980 with the exception of two artists – I’ll let you guess who). Over the course of the next six Fridays (including an “Honorable Mention” episode), each round will be released as we select these legendary artists into our own Supergroup, consisting of four artists & one producer/production team. You can select anyone from Whitney to Alicia Keys to Normani, It is up to you.

Starting today, this post will be updated as we will be releasing each Round of the podcast series. You can also go directly to the South Shore Ave YouTube Channel to watch each episode. Today on The Ave Podcast, we take you back down memory lane to discuss the greatest two week stretch in Hip Hop history. On Nov. 9, 1993, two iconic albums were released on the same day, A Tribe Called Quest’s 3rd album Midnight Marauders, and Wu-Tang Clan’s debut album Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers. Both albums went on help usher in a new era, and became two of the most influential bodies of work in the genre. If that wasn’t enough, exactly two weeks later Snoop Doggy Dogg released his debut album Doggystyle, which followed the same path as the two albums before it, and launched Snoop into superstardom.

I invite DJ Chris Nice (Grooves & Rhythms Mixshow, Fridays from 4 – 6PM on MyLime Radio) & Dennis Barham (Actor) as we discuss these three albums, the peak of Hip Hop’s Golden Era, how the ’93-’94 stretch may have represented the best 2-year period that ever existed in the genre, plus a ton more. South Shore Ave presents…. The Ave Podcast with Cal Cee. This is the first podcast launched from South Shore Ave Radio, which will focus on sports, music, some pop culture, and everything else in between. In other words, this is an extension of the blog that I have been running for the past three years. There will be more projects in the future, so definitely stay tuned for those, as well as the regular blog articles & postings.

In the spirit of Flashback Friday, on the first episode of The Ave Podcast, my first guest will be my brother Curtis (Marist Red Rox alumnist), as we have an honest discussion on the legacy of Vince Carter in Toronto, his true influence on this generation of Toronto ballers, and if he really should be considered for the Hall of Fame.
